How to Adopt

If you are interested in a Doodlebear puppy, the first step is to complete our puppy application. This helps us learn more about your home, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a puppy.

Once we receive your application, we will review it and reach out to discuss our program, any puppies that may currently be available, and our upcoming litters.

If you would like to move forward after your application has been approved, a $500 deposit is required to reserve your spot on our waiting list for an upcoming litter. Deposits are applied toward the purchase price of your puppy and secure your place on the list.

When puppies are born, families on the waiting list will be contacted in order of deposit. At that time, you will confirm your preferred gender and two colour preferences.

When the puppies are approximately 6 weeks old, we host a Puppy Meet & Greet. During this visit, families will meet the puppies that match the gender and colour preferences listed on their application. Families will then select their first and second puppy choices.

At around 7 weeks of age, each puppy completes a temperament evaluation. Using these results, along with the information provided in your application, we determine which puppy will be the best match for your home and lifestyle. While family preferences are taken into consideration, final placement decisions are made to ensure the best long-term match for both the puppy and the family.

Our goal is to place each puppy in the home where they will thrive.

Adopting an Available Puppy

Occasionally we have puppies available after 8 weeks of age.

If a puppy is currently available, families may inquire directly without being on the waitlist.

The process is as follows:

  1. Submit an inquiry through our application form.

  2. We will connect with you to discuss the puppy and ensure the match is a good fit.

  3. A deposit is required to reserve the puppy.

  4. Once the reservation is confirmed, arrangements will be made for pickup.

Puppies that are available after 8 weeks of age have already begun their early training and socialization, giving them a head start for an easier transition into their new homes.
